L9 Ceramic Cornish Mining House Lantern
This new collection of lanterns is being launched as part of the Digital Craft Festival.
These ceramic lanterns are born out of the textures and heritage of the Westcountry landscape and handbuilt by me in my Plymouth studio. Lantern Nine, loosley based on the Cornish Mining House, "Wheal Rose", is built with slabs of a stoneware and terracotta mix, textured and glazed in a simple white matte glaze. It has touches of copper oxide which when mixed with the clay and glaze give a subtle greenish brown hue.
13cm high x 5cm wide x 5cm deep
There is a hole at the back so that it can either sit happily on a shelf or mantelpiece or hung on the wall. It can also take a small tealight which brings it to life when it gets darker outside.
These lanterns look great on their own and as part of a collection or small community.
This is handmade and one of a kind.
